Rick’s background is rooted in the Kansas plains of the Midwest where the majority of his family hails. However, when asked, he will tell you that, while not originally from Texas, he got here just as soon as he could! Rick is also a proud graduate of Texas A&M University where he earned his bachelor’s degree in Anthropology, and was a member of the Fightin’ Texas Aggie Corps of Cadets. Due in no small part to Rick’s time at Texas A&M, he and his wife, Polina, are avid Aggie football fans and regular season ticket holders.
Following his graduation from Texas A&M, and to the teasing of his family made up entirely of engineers employed in the Oil and Gas industry, Rick enrolled at Gonzaga University’s School of Law where he earned his Juris Doctorate with cum laude honors. During his tenure in Law School, Rick served as an associate editor on two legal periodicals, The Gonzaga Law Review and The Gonzaga Journal of International Law. In the latter, he was privileged enough to have an article he authored published in its spring 2014 issue. Additionally, during his last semester in law school, Rick clerked full time for the Texas First Court of Appeals, assisting the judges in conducting legal research and drafting the opinions of the Court, including one opinion for a multimillion dollar class-action lawsuit.
Following law school, Rick entered into private practice, where his focus has been on real estate, commercial transactions, corporate matters, estate planning, and complex civil litigation. His experience in these areas has greatly assisted him in achieving excellent results for his clients, and will only continue to do so. Rick is currently licensed to practice law in the State of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
In his free time, Rick enjoys hunting, fishing, and traveling with his wife to see new places and experience other cultures.
